About Gabriela

Gabriela Peres (2001), is a Portuguese cellist currently based in Manchester. She completed her Bachelor’s degree with Jed Barahal in Porto, an Erasmus programme in Royal Conservatory The Hague with Larissa Groeneveld, and recently got her Master’s degree in cello at the Kunstuniversität Graz under the guidance of the cellist Johannes Krebs. Gabriela is now continuing her studies in a second Master’s programme in Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music with Jacob Shaw, supported by a prestigious ABRSM scholarship. She has extensive experience as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, performing across Europe and participating in masterclasses with renowned cellists including Frans Helmerson, Pieter Wispelwey, Valentin Erben, and Kyril Zlotnikov. Gabriela is a founding member of the Cibele Quartet and also performs with the PortoCello Quartet and Meran Piano Trio. She has appeared at major festivals such as the Orlando Festival, Festival Milano Musica, and the Steirisches Kammermusik Festival, and collaborates regularly with contemporary composers. Gabriela is also a passionate and dedicated teacher. She loves teaching because it allows her to share her deep connection to music, inspire creativity in others, and witness the unique progress of each student. She believes that teaching is a powerful exchange of ideas and expression, and finds joy in helping students develop both confidence and individual voice. Her approach is supportive, flexible, and tailored to each individual, welcoming learners of all ages and levels.

About the lesson

I offer cello lessons for students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. My teaching approach is flexible and student-centred, adapting to the individual goals, pace, and learning style of each person. Whether you're aiming to develop solid technique, improve musical expression, prepare for exams, or simply enjoy playing, I provide a structured yet encouraging environment that supports progress and creativity. I focus on building strong foundations while keeping the learning process enjoyable and inspiring. Lessons are available both in person (Manchester) and online. Everyone is welcome—children, teenagers, and adults!
