About Chiara

The motto I follow in my teaching methodology is joining fun, respecting my students' wishes and interests while passing on proper training, technique and useful practical tips. In my classes, I leverage facilitation techniques and music pedagogy studies, and as a teacher, I bring in a confluence of diverse practical experiences - formal music training, live band performances, studio recordings, music writing, certifications - all of which allow me to adapt to different learning styles and develop customized music curriculums, in order to give each student an opportunity to excel.

I started musical training at the age of 7 when I enrolled in group classes for keyboard. Soon after, my teacher realized that I had talent for music which could be further developed. That's how I started studying Western classical piano in individual classes. Results didn't take long to come and I started clearing several advanced conservatory exams in Italy including:

- Music Theory, Melodic Dictation (ear training), Rhythmic Reading, Solfege, Transposition, Sight-Reading, Sight-Singing
- Piano Performance (broadly equivalent to Trinity grade 8)
- History of Music
- Harmony

When I was 15, I was selected to receive a full scholarship by the European Union to be part of a project requiring 100+ hours of music making - a project named "Soundscapes". The course was entirely taught in English and from the world of Western classical music, I started learning about sound waves, jacks, cables and pedals in live settings, how to use DAWs, soundproofing, to how a recording studio works. That's when I recorded my first track in a music studio - at "The Cave", in Catania.

I went for weekly piano classes for 12+ years without a break! During my time in India, I also trained at Delhi School of Music, Furtados School of Music and KPMG Learning Academy.
25+ years later, music is still part of my daily life. As an adult, I have taken teacher-specific trainings to effectively teach piano including:

- Music Pedagogy (techniques to effectively teach piano and music theory) with a total score of 98.04% based on written and live assessments on music theory, pedagogy and instrument (sight reading and performance);
- Facilitation Skills (techniques to conduct more interactive and engaging sessions, better address individual learning preferences, empower students to actively participate in their own learning journey);
- Teaching popular music in the classroom by Berklee on Coursera (full certification).

I teach students from around the globe one-to-one online, as well as in person, while also working on my own compositions and technical training. I have performed my original music at several venues in different countries including Italy, India and France. I have a strong passion for languages and cleared several language certification exams. I am fluent in English, French, Italian, and have a working knowledge of Hindi - which allow me to pass on all that I have learnt to students from all nationalities.

About the lesson

If you dream of playing the piano with correct technique, learning Western classical or Bollywood songs, composing your own music, clearing piano grades with top marks or understanding music theory without getting lost or bored, this is the course for you!

I am a trained and certified pianist from Italy and teach kids and adults from several parts of the world, especially India. Certifications and hands-on experiences go hand in hand and that's what I offer in each of my classes.

While each student's needs and wishes may differ, a consistent feedback I have received from students and parents alike is how my classes combine a light mood with special attention to detail, which is especially important when preparing for piano exams.

Practical applications, technique and music theory are seamlessly included in each class so training goes hand in hand with fun. Topics we may cover are related to piano technique, music theory, aurals and repertoire development, for example: staff reading, major and minor keys, scales, chords (major, minor, dominant, major 7th, diminished, etc.), intervals, harmony, ornaments, hand position and piano posture, finger strengthening and independence, ear training, rhythmic reading, performance directions, music composition.

Whether you speak English, Hindi, French or Italian, language is no bar for these classes, I am comfortable in all of them!
My promise to beginners comes from the methodology that I have developed over the years: you will be able to read music notation and/or compose your own first song within few classes and play with both hands by the end of the first class itself.
