About Alison
I graduated from Northwestern University with degree in Human Development and a certificate in Creative Nonfiction Writing. Since, I've worked as an English teacher in Spain and a professional writing coach for three years.
I'm an enthusiastic coach and a thoughtful editor. I value getting to know each of my students and helping them feel comfortable in the writing process. When I'm not working, I'm probably playing soccer or writing my own nonfiction!

I work primarily with high schoolers who are applying to college. If a student has not yet written any essay drafts, our first session is all about brainstorming. I'll ask my student questions about their life, both inside and outside of the classroom, to understand the unique story that they have to tell. I'll assist with the essay outline, and with multiple rounds of essay editing until we've reached a completed version.
I see essay tutoring as a special way to teach high schoolers to write and communicate with clarity. I love helping my students discover their writing voice and better understand their own stories in the process.
