About Laura

I am a Finnish flutist and pedagogue, currently holding a tenured position as Assistant principal flute with the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra (Spain).

I hold two Master’s degrees in Flute Performance (Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki, and Conservatori Superior del Liceu, Barcelona), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Music Pedagogy from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland).

Alongside my orchestral career, I have over ten years of experience teaching flute at music schools and conservatories in Finland and Spain, working with students ranging from advanced pre-professional level to young professionals preparing orchestral auditions.

I have performed with several professional orchestras across Europe, including Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Sinfonia Lahti, Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana, and Orquesta Simfònica del Vallès.

My orchestral training was shaped by teachers such as Mikael Helasvuo, Yuki Koyama, and Júlia Gállego, and further enriched through masterclasses with leading flutists including Emmanuel Pahud, Emily Beynon, Jacques Zoon, Sophie Cherrier, and Felix Renggli.

My teaching approach focuses on efficient practice strategies for orchestral excerpts, sound production, stylistic awareness, and mental preparation for auditions. I integrate body-awareness methods and mental practices to help flutists perform consistently under pressure.
I work primarily online with flutists preparing auditions for orchestras, as well as international students seeking a deeper understanding of the European orchestral tradition.

My lessons are fully tailored to each student, depending on their goals and level. I can help you with:

I also integrate elements of Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method and mindfulness when helpful, especially for tension, posture and performance anxiety.
