About Simon
I am a professional musician and PhD student, having moved to Auckland from the UK in 2022. I've written guitar music for multiple musical projects and performed at many highly regarded venues around London and the rest of the UK, as well as having played on separate tours to Canada and northern continental Europe.
I've had great success tutoring beginner guitar and bass guitar in the past, focussing on the musical taste of the student to learn with.

As a self taught guitarist, but with an academic background in musical performance and theory, I consider myself to have the 'best of both worlds' when it comes to my approach to teaching. This helps me to assist the student both to develop a more technical understanding of guitar and also help them to discover their passion for guitar, which is what leads people to continue pursuing the instrument.
I can aid the student to approach guitar from all angles, focussing on chords, tab, finger picking techniques, as well as skills that are often missed out such as playing by ear and creating music. This will allow the student to improve their technique and knowledge of the guitar, whilst allowing them to develop their own musical voice, should they desire to.
