I teach: -Piano/Keyboards -Bassoon -Theory -Chamber Music -Aural/Sight-reading Please ask if you are interested in other subjects. My overriding goal when teaching is to ensure that students find lessons enjoyable and fulfilling. Have a think about what you might like to achieve; perhaps a performance, exam, or learning for fun. It's totally up to you! I like to teach my students how to practise effectively, so that they can make improvements independently and therefore improve more quickly. I am known for being an enthusiastic teacher, well-suited to children, and have experience with students as young as 5 years old. This includes group lessons and outreach, with up to 60 pupils at once. However, I also enjoy teaching adult learners, who tend to be more intrinsically motivated, and are often very interesting people! I teach at £55/hour, and my rates for half hour and 45 minute lessons are roughly equivalent. Depending on where you live, I might need to factor travel expenses into the cost. However, I have been teaching students over Skype during lockdown (including young children), and this has worked incredibly successfully. This might also be an option, and does not require any additional technology e.g. microphones. Skype is perfectly fine. NB My rates follow the minimum teaching rates recommended by the Musicians Union for this location. This is to avoid undercutting other tutors, whilst still wishing to provide affordable lessons. My cancellation policy is 48h notice.

I have worked professionally alongside Amy many times and can safely say she is a fantastic all-round musician. She is always prepared and is a pleasure to be around. I would highly recommend her as both a bassoon and piano teacher - her students are lucky to have her!
Amy is an enthusiastic and engaging teacher, she is passionate about both bassoon and piano, which is evident in her teaching. Her approachability and kindness, as well as her intelligence and wide range of knowledge make lessons enjoyable and fulfilling. I would recommend Amy as a teacher to anyone; regardless of age or musical ability, her friendly personality and obvious love for her subjects ensure that her students reach their full potential.
Been working with Amy for about two months, her teaching style is wonderful, super patient, supporting and helped me build confidence playing the bassoon. Also very detailed when teaching and learnt a lot of new techniques from her.
Amy is a talented and dedicated musician with an impressively wide stylistic range and breadth of knowledge, who has worked with and for me on a number of occasions. She is also a personable, professional and infectiously enthusiastic individual who I am sure is an excellent teacher.
I have known Amy for a long time and she is such a wonderful and supportive presence. Working with her is always a delight whatever her role and I have every confidence her teaching is no exception.
Amy is a very lovely teacher with an amazing passion for all things bassoon. She is well organised and trustworthy, and I would definitely recommend her to any student regardless of age or ability.
Amy's experience in bringing people together, thinking out of the box, engaging with professors, colleagues and audience can surely make her an excellent teacher. Her welcoming approach, positivity and care to whoever she works with, and her smiles are all attributes one wants from his/her teacher - someone you can rely on for being committed to your progress and advancement.
