My tutoring approach is student-centered, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s individual needs, learning style, and goals. With five years of teaching experience in the Greenwood Leflore Consolidated School District, working with students from pre-K through high school, I understand the importance of meeting students where they are and helping them build confidence as they learn. As a current news anchor and producer, I also bring strong communication, writing, reading, and presentation skills that I incorporate into my teaching.
My Teaching Methods and Techniques
I believe students learn best in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring new ideas. I use clear explanations, real-world examples, guided practice, interactive activities, and positive encouragement to make learning enjoyable and effective. I adjust my teaching methods to fit each student's strengths, challenges, and pace.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a brief review of the student's current knowledge and learning goals. Next, I introduce the topic using simple explanations and relatable examples. We then work through practice activities together before moving toward independent work to strengthen understanding and build confidence. I end each session by reviewing key concepts, celebrating progress, and identifying areas that may need additional practice.
What Sets Me Apart
My combination of classroom teaching experience and professional broadcasting allows me to offer a unique perspective on education. I can help students strengthen their reading comprehension, grammar, writing, vocabulary, public speaking, presentation skills, and overall communication. My experience as a news anchor and producer also allows me to connect classroom learning to real-world communication and critical-thinking skills. Above all, I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping every student recognize their potential.
Who My Lessons Are For
I welcome students from pre-K through high school who need support with foundational learning, reading, writing, English, grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills. I can also assist college students who want to improve their public speaking, presentation abilities, writing techniques, or confidence when communicating. Whether a student needs extra academic support, help mastering a specific subject, or encouragement to reach the next level, my goal is to make learning accessible, meaningful, and rewarding.
