About Timothy

My name is Timmy, I’m a Dublin-based professional musician, music producer and songwriter, and I’ve been playing bass for over 10 years. Alongside playing bass, I’ve spent years working as a producer and songwriter, giving me experience working with artists and musicians across a wide range of genres and musical settings.

I've performed and worked on music professionally, as well as collaborating with artists internationally. My experience as a producer gives me a strong understanding of how bass fits into a wider production — from creating a solid groove and locking in with the drums, to supporting melodies, chords and vocals.

I love playing bass, and I’m passionate about helping other people discover how fun and rewarding the instrument can be. I want my lessons to be practical, relaxed and focused on making real music, whether that means learning your favorite songs, improving your technique, developing your groove or understanding how to play bass as part of a band or recording.

I'm happy to work with complete beginners as well as intermediate players, and I'll tailor lessons around your musical taste, goals and experience.

About the lesson

In my lessons, we'll learn songs you love and use them as a starting point to develop the core skills you need to become a confident bass player. Whether you're into rock, pop, hip-hop, funk, electronic music or anything in between, I'll help you learn bass in a way that's practical, musical and enjoyable.

I've been playing bass and making music for over 10 years, alongside my work as a professional music producer, songwriter and composer. My experience working with artists and producing records gives me a different perspective on the role of the bass — not just as an instrument, but as an essential part of the rhythm, harmony and overall sound of a song.

We'll work on things like technique, rhythm, groove, scales, harmony, playing by ear and learning songs, while also looking at how bass fits together with drums, chords and melodies. As your skills develop, I'll help you understand how to make musical choices rather than simply learning what notes to play.

In our introductory call, we'll talk about your goals, musical taste and experience, and I'll tailor the lessons around what you want to learn.

These lessons are particularly suited to beginner and intermediate players who want to improve their technique, learn songs they love and develop a stronger understanding of music.
