About Daniel

Daniel is a professional freelance violinist based in London, in demand as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and teacher. A prize-winning graduate and scholar of the Royal Academy of Music, Daniel graduated with first-class honours and a Master’s degree with Distinction. He was awarded the prestigious Regency Award for achieving the highest violin mark in his year for his Master’s Final Recital. Daniel performs regularly as a soloist, including a recent tour around Scotland with his pianist duo partner, as well as performing Saint-Saëns' Rondo Capriccioso with the Trent Chamber Orchestra. He also freelances with top orchestras across the UK, such as the English Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and many others. Beyond classical music, Daniel enjoys performing in other genres. He has performed with Ed Sheeran, RAYE, and recorded strings for Ella Henderson. He regularly records in the studio for major film soundtracks, including the new Disney remake of Snow White. Daniel also toured Europe for six months on the Les Misérables World Arena Tour and served as a deputy violinist for Guys and Dolls at the Bridge Theatre.

About the lesson

I am a friendly, encouraging, and patient teacher who tailors each lesson to your specific needs. Whether you’re a complete beginner, returning to the violin after a break, or an advanced player looking to refine your skills, I’m here to help you grow as a violinist and musician. I have 8 years of extensive experience teaching school-age children, teenagers, and adults, each with different musical goals and backgrounds. I love sharing my passion for music and ensuring that every student has a positive and enjoyable learning experience. Lessons are flexible and structured around your needs. I can teach using the ABRSM graded system, or we can explore other approaches beyond ABRSM. We will discuss your aims from the start and create a plan centred around your goals. I place a strong emphasis on building solid technique and developing a beautiful sound from the very beginning, all while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. I teach all levels, from beginner to university/diploma standard.

Deadly! Daniel is an excellent tutor. As a highly accomplished violin professional, he was able to transfer his passion and knowledge of violin playing at just the right pace and level for my learning. Daniel was patient and supportive while also strongly encouraging my development.

The lessons were very well planned, combined different methods and addressed nuanced aspects of the violin and bow. The face-to-face lessons were invaluable as Daniel provided feedback and insights in real-time that greatly benefitted my understanding.

I started as a complete novice and after five lessons from Daniel I feel much more confident and relaxed with my technique and can now play some sections of basic sheet music to a good standard.

I’d highly recommend Daniel’s tutoring to anyone who’d like to progress their violin playing to the next level.
