Every teacher has a mission to save lives. It’s a silent mantra that no matter what you teach, it goes that deep. I learned more about myself and the violin when I started teaching. The discipline necessary to excel on a bowed instrument brings together the ability to pre-hear, pre-feel and pre-see every note in all parts of the bow.

Technique is vocabulary and how we speak, what’s known as prosody is how we communicate. This applies to any instrument. For violin I go beyond the notes, rests and dynamics into the whole body for bringing left and right hand technique to a level that makes focus and communication integral. Think of the great Jascha Heifetz as a genius and you get what I mean. First character, then ability. Have I said enough?
