My name is Stella and I'm an Italian violinist based in London. For the past 10 years I have been teaching violin privately as well as working for Lambeth Music Service in various primary schools around the borough. I'm an enthusiastic teacher, willing to teach pupils of all ages and levels of experience.
I'm passionate about teaching and this is a central focus of my career as a musician. As part of my course at Trinity, I took a module called 'Instrumental Teaching Skills' which focused on the key issues and principles of being a music teacher. Learning about different teaching methods and evaluating their effectiveness has proven very stimulating for me and has very much improved my teaching abilities.
My teaching strengths include an enthusiastic approach and friendly attitude. I am very encouraging towards my pupils because I think that music is of invaluable importance for both children and adults, and that everybody should get a chance at playing an instrument.
Over the years I have taught pupils aged 5-50 and from beginners to Grade 8 standard. I have experience entering students for ABRSM/Trinity exams with a 100% pass rate.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Violin at all levels (Beginners to Advanced).
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Music has been an integral part of my life since my early childhood: I started playing piano and violin before I was 5. After studying at the Milan Conservatoire for 9 years I moved to England where I studied Music first at Royal Holloway University of London and then at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Since finishing my studies in 2014, I have been working professionally around the UK and abroad.
I have extensive experience with solo violin repertoire, chamber music and orchestral playing. My most recent orchestral work include playing with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, performing for Ivan Putrov's 'Men in Motion' and 'Against the Stream' ballet galas at the London Coliseum, playing with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a conducting masterclass with Marin Alsop, and leading the second violin section in a cycle of Mahler symphonies with the London Mahler Orchestra conducted by Daniel Capps (New York City Ballet).
Some of the most exciting projects I have taken part in recently have been crossing the boundaries of traditional 'classical' orchestras. I am a founding member of Street Orchestra Live, a charity committed to bringing different types of music (ranging from Haydnto Snoop Dogg!) to unexpected audience in parks, streets, hospitals, schools, detention centres and libraries around the UK. For 4 years I was a regular member of the the Women of the World Orchestra, resident at Southbank Centre, who perform a yearly gala evening of classical music, popular music and comedy on International Women's Day.
- How much do you charge?

30 minute consultation lesson is FREE!
There is a £5 fee for travel times above 30 minutes.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach at my house (Vauxhall/Kennington) or travel to the student's house. I charge an extra £5 for travel time over 30 minutes. I'm also able to teach remotely on Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. I have been teaching online both for Lambeth Music Service and privately throughout the lockdown and I would be very happy to do this again if necessary.
- When are you available?
I am fairly flexible all days of the week. However, I am a freelance orchestral violinist as well as being a teacher so sometimes I may have to move my private teaching to fit around my other commitments.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach all ages and levels of experience.
