About David

I've spent the last eight years teaching Python to kids and teens, and it's genuinely what I love doing. I run my own programming academy for students ages 8 to 18, and I've built out the entire curriculum myself, everything from a student's very first "hello world" all the way up to competitive programming and contest prep.

What I like most about teaching coding to this age group is finding the right way in for each kid. Some students want to build games, some want to build little apps, some are laser focused on prepping for a certification or a competition. I try to meet them where they're at instead of forcing everyone through the same generic lesson.

I've helped students go from total beginners to confidently building their own projects, and I've also worked with more advanced students prepping for things like the PCEP certification or competitions like USACO and ACSL. Either way, my goal is the same: make coding feel doable and actually fun, not intimidating.

Outside of tutoring, I spend my time developing new lessons, projects, and exercises, so if your child works with me, they're getting material that's actually been thought through, not put together the night before.

About the lesson

Hey! I teach Python to kids and teens for a living, so this isn't a side thing for me, it's what I do all day every day. Over the years I've built out a full curriculum that takes students from their very first lines of code all the way through competitive programming.

Wherever your kid is at, I can probably help.

If they're brand new to coding, we'll start with the basics like loops, functions, lists, and dictionaries, but through projects they'll actually enjoy, not boring worksheets.

If they already know the basics, we can start building real apps and games together and work on leveling up their problem solving.

Into competitive programming like USACO or ACSL? I've got contest prep covering algorithms, data structures, and strategy.

Need help keeping up with a school coding class or AP CS? Happy to help with that too.

I always come prepared with a plan for each session based on where your kid is and what they're working toward, so it's never just winging it or reusing the same lesson for everyone.
