About Lorin
Hi, I'm Lorin - thanks for considering me for project and delivery management coaching!
I have been in project and delivery management for about 20 years. I began my career as a programmer and moved into work management because I wanted to contribute more to the efficient structuring of the overall delivery workflow than I could as a developer.
Basically, I wanted to anticipate and eliminate problems for the team, not just respond to them.
I spent the first part of my career in very early stage start-ups and the middle of my career and much larger and established corporate organizations (Federal Reserve Bank of New York, international publishing, etc.).
Most recently I've been focusing on organizational transformation - creating project, portfolio and delivery methodologies from scratch - primarily in younger companies in industries spanning generative AI, digital music distribution, educational technology, etc.
This includes defining roles and responsibilities, governance models, cross-functional collaboration models, capacity planning and prioritization strategies, etc.

At the outset I want to highlight that this may not be what you think of when you think of coaching or tutoring.
My specialty is in working with individuals experienced in software delivery and product development to troubleshoot their project, operations and delivery issues in real time.
The coaching becomes "learning by doing" - in our sessions we are solving your real world problems as you learn the tools and techniques to do so yourself in the future.
I've partnered with clients to successfully:
* Get their arms around difficult projects/programs
* Set up complex enterprise portfolio management models
* Plan the development and roll out plans for new tech products
* Navigate the politics and bureaucracy that can block execution
* Port their skills as individual contributors (software engineer, business analyst, product expert, etc.) to project and delivery management
I also work with founders to help plan how investor funds will be used and design operational models that will scale with the company.
My areas of expertise are:
* Tech project, program and portfolio management
* Building project management and delivery teams
* Standing up new technology products and developing business concepts
* Designing end-to-end technology delivery processes
* Capacity planning and demand management
* Change management
* Stakeholder management and communications - lateral, upwards, board and C-suite

I have been in technology project, operations and delivery management for about 20 years. .
I spent the first part of my career in very early stage tech start-ups and the later parts of my career at both large and established corporate organizations seeking to increase efficiency and young, mid-sized companies that needed to accelerate execution due to market and customer demand or financial pressure.
In addition to execution and delivery, my focus is on organizational transformation - creating project, portfolio and delivery methodologies from scratch. This includes defining roles and responsibilities, governance models, cross-functional collaboration models, etc.
I am a Certified Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Product Owner and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
