About Rina

Welcome! I am Instructor Rina, and although I am a high school student, I am VERY passionate about psychology! I have studied psychology for over 2 years (At my high school and also online courses in college), and I have 1 year of tutoring experience. I have created over 150+ hours worth of engaging lessons for my students.

About the lesson

INTRO TO PSYCHOLOGY — But interesting.
Ever wondered why people think, feel, and behave the way they do? Or why your brain sometimes makes decisions before you even realize it?
In this class, we’ll explore psychology in a way that’s engaging, understandable, and scientifically accurate.
I’m a high school student with extensive experience studying psychology, and my goal isn’t to throw complicated terms at you. Instead, I take difficult psychological concepts and break them down into ideas that actually make sense—without sacrificing the science behind them.

HOW THE CLASS WORKS
We don’t just start by reading a definition.
My classes begin with an interactive activity, demonstration, or real psychological experiment example in history. You’ll experience something first—then we’ll ask:
“Why did that happen?”
From there, we connect the experience to the scientific principles behind it, so you’re not just memorizing psychology, you’re understanding it!

WHAT WE’LL LEARN
A major source for the course is Atkinson & Hilgard’s Introduction to Psychology, a well-established psychology textbook also used in university-level education.
We’ll explore topics such as:
How the brain influences behavior
Perception and how we interpret the world
Memory and why we forget
Emotion and motivation
Social psychology
Learning and conditioning
Development and personality
Psychological research and experiments

And yes—there is homework.
But instead of endless worksheets and memorization, homework will focus on interactive activities, thought experiments, observations, and applying psychology to real-life situations.

THE GOAL
By the end of the class, you shouldn't just be able to say:
“I memorized this psychology term.”
You should be able to say:
“I understand why this happens—and I can explain the science behind it.”
Let's make psychology fun and approachable for all!

My class is designed for grades 6-8, as we need basic logic and reason, and some science knowledge. This is a group class, if there are less than 3 students the class for the week will be canceled.
