About Rachael

I am a recent educational psychology graduate and I currently work in primary schools teaching English and science. Oftentimes students have the ability for progress but the confidence is low. I do everything I can to build a child’s confidence in their own ability by working on their difficulties until there is improvement. I work with SEN children with various learning ability so I understand the importance of tailoring a learning method to a students understanding. My mission as a tutor is to create positive attitudes towards learning so students are more confident in their ability in the classroom. I have seen firsthand the difference that my one to one support on trickier subjects can make in a student’s confidence in their learning.

About the lesson

As an English and Literacy tutor, my lessons are designed to build confidence, improve communication skills, and make learning genuinely enjoyable. I tailor each session to the student’s individual needs, whether that’s mastering spelling, improving reading comprehension, or strengthening grammar and vocabulary. My approach is supportive and patient, creating a space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn. I encourage with lots of positive affirmations when something is done well and correct with constructive feedback to nudge in the right direction. For younger students, I incorporate creative exercises and games to make reading and writing exciting. For older learners, I help refine academic writing, structure, and critical thinking ensuring they understand what they are writing. Overall, my goal is to help each student feel more confident expressing themselves both in writing and in conversation.
