About Chrissie
Hello! My name is Chrissie, and I am a Psychology graduate from Durham University. I’m incredibly passionate about psychology and how the mind and body interact to influence behaviour, and am now really excited to channel this passion into tutoring.
I believe that the most efficient learning happens in an engaging and encouraging environment. This way, our brains are more readily able to learn and process information more quickly. Through my sessions, I aim to create this productive environment through getting to know each student, and forming a good tutor-tutee relationship. Through this, realistic goals can be set which not only improve a tutee’s knowledge, but their confidence too.
My approach to tutoring is flexible and thorough. I aim to break down broad concepts into manageable sub-steps, regularly reassessing each session. For students looking for a challenge and to get the highest marks possible, I tailor my sessions to cover material above and beyond the set curriculum. By achieving an A* in Psychology A level, along with 100% UMS in a number of my modules, I know how to obtain those higher marks!

The structure my lessons will take will depend largely upon the student and their preferred learning style. For instance, if you’re a visual learner, I will be sure to incorporate more diagrams and story boards into my teaching. However, if you’re unsure as to what type of learner you are, that’s absolutely fine and we can try a combination of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic techniques to see which you prefer.
During lessons we'll go over any theory you're unsure of until you feel really confident with it and then go through some past paper questions relating to the learned material. A lot can be achieved in a session and I am confident you will quickly see yourself progressing in confidence and knowledge.
As exam time approaches, we'll make exam technique our main focus through past paper questions and re-covering any topics you'd like to go through again.
In between lessons, I am happy to create personalised resources to further reinforce your knowledge. These could include personalised notes, flashcards, or questions from a question bank.
