About Jody

I am a Master of Psychology student whose main motivation is to help psychology students achieve their academic goals and feel confident with studying! Whether it be lab-report/assignment writing, understanding various psychological concepts, tackling exam questions or expanding critical thinking skills .. I am here to help!

I have previously worked as a private English tutor and wish to transfer my skills to being a Psychology tutor. I have achieved a H1 Psychology WAM in the University of Melbourne and a GPA of 6+ in my Psychology Honours degree at ACU.

I believe it is important to reflect and understand how psychology informs our lives, our wellbeing and our society. I hope to deliver lessons that will spark intellectual curiosity and an intrinsic motivation to learn.

I am particularly passionate about working with adolescents and children. I have mentored young people with adaptive socio-emotional skills, working through topics like self-confidence, grief and motivation. I also am passionate about mindfulness, music and reading! I am willing to offer various resources (e.g. podcasts, worksheets, etc) to our lessons.

About the lesson

I know what it feels like to go through hours of lecture content and feel disengaged from all the theories and studies.. which is why I am here to help!

I offer creative lesson plans and making learning psychology feasible for all individuals. My methods aim to get you engaging with and understanding abstract concepts in simple ways through: (i) visual methods of learning (e.g. charts, graphs, maps!), (ii) in-depth breakdown of theories, (iii) discussions of topics or journal articles, (iv) breaking down assignments and (v) active reflection of what the topic means to you!

With experience from mentoring and coaching, I also find ways to be flexible to each person's style and emphasise a safe, non-judgemental, accepting atmosphere. Lessons will be suitable from first year psychology to psychology honours students.
