About Bronwen

I am a Research Psychology Graduate, with a passion for teaching and student success. I previously tutored first year Psychology students at Stellenbosch University. I am currently tutoring first and second year Psychology students at the University of Cape Town. Considering that the field of Psychology is constantly developing, I am committed to being lifelong learner who constantly seeks opportunities to acquire knowledge.

My teaching style incorporates student-centred learning techniques, tailored to the needs of each student. I firmly believe that each student can be successful.

My main research interests include: Gender and sexuality, reproductive justice, fertility, menstruation, feminism and intersectionality.

About the lesson

I am mindful that different content needs to be presented in different ways, for students to find it useful. By using different learning and teaching aids, where applicable, I aim to convey the content clearly. My teaching approach further incorporates student-centred techniques, such as activities that include current, real-world examples and encourage visual thinking. I further strive to provide additional resources (notes, links, readings) to students, where possible and when necessary.

My lessons adopt a participatory approach with students. Thus, I see myself as a facilitator/mentor, guiding students to unlock their potential.

Experienced in tutoring/teaching:
• Introductory Psychology courses
• Social and Developmental Psychology
• Research Methods for Social Sciences (Quantitative, Qualitative, and Statistics)
• Academic Writing Skills
• APA Formatting and Referencing

Willing to provide lessons for other Psychology courses, for example Psychometry, Psychopathology, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Psychology, and Brain and Behaviour.

My services also include:
• Proofreading/ formatting - mostly focused on ensuring that assignments are structured according to APA 7th edition formatting and referencing guidelines.
• Guidance/advice for research projects* (e.g., article recommendations, suitable methodological approaches, proposal writing tips)
*mostly research aligned with my interests but I am willing to provide guidance for other Psychology/Social Science research topics.
