About Spoorthi
Hi, I'm Spoorthi. I'm currently completing an MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Greenwich, building on 1.5 years of hands-on experience working directly with children as an academic mentor at an SEN-focused learning centre in India, a role I completed before moving to the UK.
In that role, I delivered individualised academic sessions, contributed to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and supported children through sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour management — alongside more conventional subject teaching. This means my approach to tutoring isn't just about covering a syllabus; it's grounded in a genuine understanding of how different children learn, including those who are neurodiverse or who haven't been well served by mainstream teaching methods.
I work with students from primary age through to Year 8, across maths, biology, science and psychology, and I'm equally comfortable supporting a child who simply needs extra confidence in a subject and one who needs a more structured, alternative approach to learning. My long-term goal is to become a clinical psychologist specialising in child and adolescent mental health, so working closely and patiently with young learners isn't just a job for me — it's the direction my whole career is heading in.

I believe every child learns differently, and lessons should adapt to the student rather than the other way around. I don't rely solely on mainstream, one-size-fits-all methods — sessions are built around each child's individual pace, interests, and learning style, with particular attention to sensory and emotional regulation needs where relevant. For neurodiverse learners or children with learning disabilities, I draw on structured, alternative teaching techniques rather than assuming a standard classroom approach will work. My focus is on building genuine understanding and confidence, not just short-term exam results.
