About Peter
I've been passionate about storytelling for as long as I can remember. My journey as a writer has taken me from studying English and Creative Writing at university, to working as a journalist, author, developmental editor, and writing mentor.
Over the past decade, I've helped aspiring writers develop their craft, overcome creative blocks, and bring their stories to life. I've worked with novelists, memoirists, business owners, and first-time writers, supporting them at every stage of the writing process, from the first spark of an idea to a completed manuscript.
I am the author of *Walk With Me: When Grief Passes, Love Remains*, a memoir inspired by my pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago following the loss of my father. My work explores themes of personal growth, healing, spirituality, and the stories that shape our lives.
Alongside my writing and editing work, I lead workshops and retreats that combine creativity, mindfulness, and self-expression. I believe that everyone has a story worth telling, and that writing can be a powerful tool for connection, understanding, and transformation.
Whether you're looking to improve your writing skills, start a new project, or finally finish the book you've always wanted to write, I'd be delighted to help you on your journey.

Writing is both an art and a craft. My lessons combine practical writing techniques with personalised feedback, helping you develop your skills while building the confidence and momentum needed to complete your work.
Whether you're writing a novel, memoir, autobiography, short story, or simply exploring creative writing for personal growth, I tailor each lesson to your goals and experience level. Together we'll work on areas such as story structure, character development, dialogue, pacing, scene construction, editing, and finding your unique voice as a writer.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes and include discussion, teaching, writing exercises, feedback, and clear next steps to keep you moving forward between sessions.
I hold a BA in English and Creative Writing, a Diploma in Journalism, and have worked as a professional developmental editor and writing mentor for over a decade. I am also the author of the memoir *Walk With Me: When Grief Passes, Love Remains*.
My lessons are suitable for adults of all levels, from complete beginners taking their first steps as writers to experienced authors seeking guidance on a manuscript. My approach is supportive, encouraging, and practical, creating a space where writers can develop both their craft and their confidence.
Many creative writing teachers focus on theory. My approach is different. Writing is learnt by writing.
Whether you're dreaming of a novel, memoir, autobiography, short story, or simply want to become a better writer, my role is to help you move from idea to completed manuscript. Together we'll develop both the craft of writing and the habits needed to sustain a long-term creative project.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual writer. We may work on story structure, character development, dialogue, pacing, point of view, editing, or overcoming creative blocks. You'll receive honest, constructive feedback alongside practical exercises and clear actions to take between sessions.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing your progress since our previous session and discussing any challenges you've encountered. We then focus on a specific aspect of your writing before applying what you've learnt directly to your own work. You'll leave with greater clarity, confidence, and a plan for what to write next.
As a published author and developmental editor, I understand both the creative and practical challenges writers face. I've worked with complete beginners writing their first page, as well as experienced writers developing full-length manuscripts.
My teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and honest. I believe every writer has a unique voice. Rather than trying to make your work sound like someone else's, I help you discover and strengthen what makes your writing uniquely yours.
If you've always wanted to write a book, have started one and become stuck, or simply want to grow as a writer, I'd be delighted to help you on that journey.

I met Pete two years ago and he is a force of nature! Not only is his storytelling world class but he also guides people in their own writing with patience, grace and creativity. It’s like working with a word wizard !!
I met Peter through a local facebook group - I wanted to write a book that has been floating around in my head for years - at first I was terrified to show him anything I had written - he has improved my confidence and helped me to begin to structure chapters and to see the book as a whole and make it more interesting to readers. Moreover he has encouraged me to feel that I could actually finish a book - that it is within my grasp. He has been kind, patient, understanding and utterly professional. Always prompt. Reads and critiques my work fully and fairly. I really would not have been able to amass the writing I have achieved without his encouragement and help. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone embarking on a writing journey, or wishing to further their journey.
Before working with Peter, I often felt stuck when writing and second guessed my ideas. I wanted to be more creative but struggled with confidence and turning thoughts into something clear and engaging. Peter created a supportive space that made writing feel enjoyable rather than intimidating. His feedback was thoughtful and helped me find my own voice.
After working together, I felt much more confident, wrote more freely, and had a clearer sense of how to develop my ideas and tell stronger stories. I’d highly recommend Peter to anyone looking to grow their creative writing skill and feel more confident.View more recommendations
