About Martin

After years making BBC documentaries & working as a journalist at the Guardian, Telegraph etc., I became an author, publishing 3 books with Penguin (fiction/non-fiction). Then I started teaching at university -- & discovered I was really good at helping students improve their results. I'm now a trained motivational coach, too.* My aim will be to help you to love learning. That's the key to your success! BTW, I successfully supported my son to get into Oxford. I work online, but am also happy to travel if you're within a circle of roughly Winchester / Basingstoke / Camberley / Farnham / Haslemere / Petersfield. I only charge 20p/mile extra to come to you -- ideally for a two-hour intensive block, with a 15 or 20-minute break half-way through. I do also travel further for half- and full-day intensive courses, e.g. London. I have got great results with students of all ages -- including adults. I love the work, and I'm looking forward to helping you to love learning -- and get those results you deserve.

About the lesson

I care about your results! I'm a trained motivational coach as well as a published author/BBC journalist -- and I'm all about helping you achieve your goals. I am supportive and totally focused. I've taught students in formal education aged 8 to 28, as well as adults well into middle age. And their results have skyrocketed. Try me! I'm not expensive, because I'm not greedy, and I love to teach! Lesson plans? I'm flexible -- everything we plan will be according to your needs. So, I'll be helping you to determine exactly what you need to do to meet the requirements of the assessment -- whether it's classwork or an exam. As we work together, your confidence will grow, your results will improve -- and that will make your confidence grow even more.
