About Leigh

My teaching and tutoring experience is broad and spans both primary and secondary education areas. I have also tutored a large number of students in preparation for their 11+ and 13+ examinations.

I am currently head of English and humanities in my current school, and experienced in tutoring both English and history up to GCSE level. This is something I am very confident with, having also worked as an exam marker for AQA for English language, literature, history and English as a second language papers. I have also tutored a large number of primary school students (between Years 2-6) who have struggled with English and required support with reading, comprehension and writing skills. I have also supported students with additional learning needs at primary level (ADHD, ASD and Dyslexia). I worked with these students to help make English and literacy more accessible while encouraging a love of the subject.

While in Hong Kong, I ran after school 11+ and 13+ training classes for my students which focused on verbal and non-verbal reasoning and a whole range of English reading, writing and comprehension skills. I also worked extensively with students on their interview and presentation skills for their interviews with a string of elite British private schools. More recently, I have been working with an individual in preparation for their 11+ exam, focusing primarily on English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning exam technique.

About the lesson

I have a wealth of experience teaching both primary and secondary students online, and have still ensured impressive results for my students. My lessons focus on a range of skills and are planned with a clear focus of how to get a student to a particular end goal (be that a grade in an exam or more confidence in the subject.)
