Qualified History teacher and former Head of Department with over 5 years of experience. At GCSE I specialise in AQA History, including Power and the People, Norman England, Migration, WW1, Inter-War, Weimar/Nazi Germany and Elizabeth I. I am able to tailor my lessons to a range of abilities and am skilled at driving up grades. Whether it's to achieve a 4, or to push for a 9, I can share the tips and skills needed in order to get the best outcomes. My most recent set of results saw a 25% improvement in results for GCSE with a 95% pass rate for my class at year 11 including 25% achieving 7+. Within my former trust, this placed my students second highest in terms of point score, with a further 23% increase in 4+ and a 35% increase for 5+.
I have also taught OCR and AQA A Level and on a range of topics and have extensive knowledge of their specification, with my classes often achieving well above national average. This has contributed to my former school being ranked highly in terms of value-added grades post-16. Within this the topics I have extensive knowledge include but are not limited to: American Civil Rights, The Tudors, and Germany.
My approach lifts the core knowledge and ideas, outlined in the specification, in a digestible way, that is then directly linked to exam skills and practice that will ensure essays have skilfully presented arguments that ensure that the top grades can be achieved.
