About Umang
I hold a Master’s in Indian Classical Music (Vocals) from SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Visharad in Indian Classical Vocals from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai. I have been fortunate to learn Bollywood music under Mrs. Padma Wadkar at Ajivasan Academy, and Indian Classical from Ms. Rutuja Lad and Ms. Ankita Joshi—mentors who have deeply shaped my musical journey. I am also a performer, and have performed in concerts across India as well as events in Ireland, which enriches my teaching with practical stage experience. I want to teach because I truly believe that music is not just an art, but a lifelong companion. Passing on what I’ve learned gives me immense joy. My approach is to build strong fundamentals—perfect pitch, note polishing, alankars—and then steadily expand into styles such as Bhajans, Ghazals, and Bollywood with Voice Modulation. My lessons (45 mins–1 hour) are designed for all ages and levels. Along with strong foundations like pitch, note polishing, and alankars, I focus on developing skills such as vocal dynamics, projection, voice modulation, breath control, gamaka (ornamentation of notes in Indian music), vibrato, falsetto, and vocal registers. My approach is patient, structured, and focused on mastery—so you don’t just learn songs, you truly learn how to sing.

For any skill, the basics are the foundation—and I begin right there. My lessons start with note polishing and perfect pitch training, followed by alankars (patterns of notes) as warm-ups to strengthen the voice. I offer training in: Indian Classical Vocals Bollywood Songs Voice Modulation Techniques Bhajans & Ghazals My teaching style focuses on steady progress and true mastery, rather than just rushing through songs. Credentials: Master’s in Indian Classical Music (Vocals) – SNDT University, Mumbai Visharad in Indian Classical Vocals Lesson Format: Duration: 45 minutes – 1 hour Open to all ages and all levels Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your singing, I will guide you at a comfortable pace while ensuring depth and quality in learning.
