About Ms

I have a BA Honours degree in IT and Education; and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education, University College of London. I am a Qualified Teacher (QTS). I have worked for the past twelve years as a classroom teacher in various mainstream secondary schools in London. I am the Head of faculty for the computer science department and the business department; I know how to help students get good results for their GCSE and A level exams. I am currently offering private tuition to help students who need one to one support to achieve the top grades. I like to make the learning fun and accessible for the student by supporting and encouraging them as they strive to have academic success. I am available after school from 4 30 pm to 7 00 pm Monday - Friday at the beginning of the academic year. Also Saturdays 9am - 1pm. My experience is broad and thorough. I currently work with key stage 3 and 4 students teaching computer science, and business studies. I also provide coaching and mentoring for struggling students and offer exam techniques.

About the lesson

I have a sound working experience of a variety of the examining boards Edexcel, OCR and AQA etc. this has reinforced my knowledge and given me a breadth of wisdom into perfecting examination techniques. I mark GCSE exam papers; so I know what examiners are looking for. I think it is important to prepare students with the necessary exam techniques as they acquire the subject content and in this way helping them to success. Teaching is my passion. I help students to learn by developing a good working relationship, that helps them to learn in a pleasant, encouraging but focused learning environment. I strive to teach beyond the curriculum, which in turn accelerates their learning. I help students to be organised in and out of the lesson; so that they get the best out of their time in the lesson. Additionally, I tend to use a mix of resources in my lessons. For example, I may use whiteboards or anything creative to keep my students engaged. I also set and mark homework; to help the students master the topic and their confidence. I teach intervention sessions for my students in school and have successfully brought students up from grades 2/3 to 4/5 and 6/7 to 8/9. I have taught mixed ability students for the past ten years and am Head of faculty for computer science department and the business department. I have successfully helped many students both private and public to achieve above their target grade (lots of 9's - 6's the students really did well). My online experience has led to me using a variety of platforms i.e. zoom, teams and google classroom. I have taught online via google classes, taught whole class lessons and face to face. I have taught online for the past four years. Most students seem to enjoy being online and having the lesson delivered at a pace that suits them. I use whiteboards to communicate ideas and concepts. Online software that allows me to see students programming live. I use the email and WhatsApp to share past papers and resources. Also set assessment using online resources and google live documents.
