About Ellie
Hi, I’m Ellie, and I am a big fan of reading!
My goal is to help children feel confident in their reading. Comprehension of text is so important when reading, especially for children.
I explain and go through the four main ideas of comprehension step by step and use simple strategies such as actions and icons so children never feel overwhelmed.
I pride myself on my patience and enjoy seeing that ‘lightbulb moment’ when a child suddenly understands something new.

I design my lessons around each child's current understanding and focus upon the main ideas of comprehension: retrieval, inference, summarisation, and definition.
Lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to the learner, making comprehension feel clear, manageable, and even enjoyable!
Lesson length: 1–2 hours, depending on your child’s needs.
Experience: I am a full-time primary school teacher, teaching a class of 30 pupils daily, so I’m very familiar with different learning styles and abilities. I am trained to support both SEND and EAL.
Specialist training: I have completed additional professional development with a specialist in reading for 2 years.
Curriculum focus: I teach in line with the National Curriculum and can support with reading papers, SATs preparation, and other upcoming summative assessments.
My goal is always to help children feel capable, supported and to become great readers!
