About Sarah

Hello, I'm Ms Barnes, a qualified primary school teacher with QTS and several years of experience teaching children from Reception through to Year 6. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked in a variety of educational settings, including mainstream primary schools, independent schools and specialist support environments, giving me experience working with children with a wide range of abilities and learning needs.

I have a particular passion for helping children develop confidence in their learning. Some of the most rewarding moments in teaching come from seeing a child realise that they are capable of achieving something they previously found difficult, whether that's mastering a maths concept, improving their reading fluency or gaining confidence in their writing.

I believe every child can make progress when they feel supported, understood and challenged at the right level. My aim is to create a positive learning experience that helps children not only improve academically but also develop a greater belief in their own abilities.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy baking, creative hobbies and spending time outdoors with my black rescue cat, Evie, who is often found supervising from the nearest sunny spot!

About the lesson

My English lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs and designed to help them become confident, capable communicators. Whether your child needs support with reading, comprehension, spelling, phonics, grammar, punctuation, creative writing or SATs preparation, lessons will be carefully planned to match their current level and learning style.

As a qualified primary school teacher with experience teaching children from Reception through to Year 6, I understand how literacy skills develop and the challenges that some children face along the way. I use engaging activities, high-quality texts and clear explanations to help pupils build strong foundations while developing confidence in their abilities.

Lessons are supportive, encouraging and interactive, providing plenty of opportunities for children to practise new skills and celebrate their successes. I believe that children make the most progress when they feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions and learning from mistakes.

Whether your child needs help catching up, preparing for SATs, improving their writing, developing reading fluency or simply gaining confidence in English, my goal is to help them make meaningful progress while fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
