About Brenda
I’m a qualified secondary English teacher currently teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and GCSE. I’m passionate about helping people become more confident in English, whether they are studying the subject at school or learning English as a second language. Working with students every day has given me a strong understanding of how differently people learn. I enjoy breaking difficult concepts down into clear, manageable steps and creating an environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing at their own pace. Alongside academic English, I can support ESL learners who want to develop their speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. As someone with a genuine love of language and literature, I want my lessons to make English feel approachable rather than intimidating. I’m patient, encouraging and adaptable, and my goal is to help each learner make progress while becoming more independent and confident in their English.

I offer personalised English lessons for KS3 and GCSE students, as well as English as a Second Language (ESL) learners. Every lesson is tailored to the individual’s ability, confidence and goals, whether that means improving academic English, preparing for exams or becoming more confident using English in everyday life.
For KS3 and GCSE students, lessons can focus on English Language and Literature, including essay writing, creative writing, reading comprehension, textual analysis, grammar and GCSE exam preparation.
I can also provide targeted support with AQA exam skills, question structures, assessment objectives and exam technique.
For ESL learners, lessons can focus on speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and conversational English. I adapt lessons to each learner’s current level and what they would most like to achieve.
My lessons are supportive, engaging and structured, with a strong focus on building confidence alongside academic progress. Whether you are preparing for GCSEs, looking to strengthen a particular skill or simply want to become a more confident English speaker, lessons will be adapted to you.
