About Adam
Growing up in a deprived area, I attended a special measures school with low aspirations for students. Through the hard work of myself and certain caring teachers, I achieved solid GCSEs and ALEVELs before working through the Sutton Trust Summer School to attend Durham University, where I achieved a First in History. My specialty areas at uni were broad and ranged far beyond traditional narratives, giving me a range of unique insight to add, including animal history, environmental history, and histories of gender and sexualities. Wanting to share these opportunities and a love of history, I then trained as a teacher with one of the best academic trusts in Leeds. I have taught multiple exam boards, and have a diverse range of experience personalising learning, including by working in a specialist SEND provision.
I have a reputation in school of being kind and patient, and am proud of my positive relationships with students.

History is a challenging and complex subject, yet offers so much reward to those ready to unpick it. By tailoring my approaches according to cutting edge pedagogical and metacognitive research (while also drawing on my own classroom experiences and bank of resources!), I can help students gain confidence and historical skills while better understanding the world around them.
Lessons are typically an hour in length for GCSE and A-Level, and can include advice on revision and applications if notified.
