About Maria
I am a graduate in English and Language and Literature from the University of Oxford, and I am currently studying for an MA in Comparative Literature at UCL, London.
I gained my qualification as a TEFL instructor by following a 140-hour TEFL course, which I successfully completed in April 2020. Since then, I have been teaching English mostly through 1-to-1 lessons, to both students who wanted to challenge themselves, and improve their written and oral expression, as well as to students who were preparing for a variety of English Language exams.

I start my course by going through a level assessment with my students, and this usually involves understanding why they'd like to learn English, what their goals are, and the level of English they can already master.
Once this has been established, I then start planning a variety of lessons, generally mixing classes focusing on grammar or vocabulary with others concentrating on written or oral expression, so as to make my students feel more confident when speaking or writing, both to others and for their exams.
I use my background as an English Language and Literature graduate to also help those students who would like to focus more on academic English and essay writing.
So far, I have mostly tutored students who are 18+, and who were looking to improve their English either for working reasons, or for academic reasons.
