About Erika
I approach tutoring with a high level of professionalism, preparation, and integrity. I am committed to maintaining clear communication with families and schools, setting measurable goals, and using research-based instructional practices to support struggling readers. I come to each session prepared with purposeful lessons, progress-monitoring tools, and a clear plan to address student needs efficiently and respectfully. I am well-suited to tutor struggling readers because I bring a strong foundation in evidence-based reading instruction, patience, and a genuine commitment to student growth. I understand that students who struggle with reading often need targeted, explicit instruction combined with encouragement and consistency. I take the time to identify each student’s specific skill gaps—whether in phonics, fluency, vocabulary, or comprehension—and tailor instruction to meet their individual needs. I create a supportive, confidence-building environment where students feel safe to take risks and celebrate progress, no matter how small. My experience working with diverse learners has strengthened my ability to break down complex skills into manageable steps, monitor progress closely, and adjust instruction to ensure success. Above all, I am passionate about helping students develop the reading skills they need to access grade-level content and become confident, independent.
