About Katia
I recently graduated from Sacramento State University with an MA in English composition. I was the teacher of record for four separate semesters of ENGL 5, a three unit college course intended for first-year students. I tutored at the university's reading and writing center for three years. I also hold a TESOL certificate, allowing me to each English to second language learners.

First days are for introductions, allowing me to develop a relationship with my students, a factor I find crucial for any teacher-student environemtn. Shortly after, I assess the level of my students and evaluate their strengths and weakness at which point I can tailor my lessons to better suit my student's needs. I value agency, student-centered curriculums, a focus on higher order of concerns, and effective written and aural feedback.
