About Marilena
Hi, I'm Marilena.
You've probably sent out more applications this month than you can count, and gotten back nothing, or worse, gotten all the way to the final round and still heard no. You know you're capable. You can feel it. But somehow that isn't landing on the page, or in the room, and you're starting to wonder if the problem is you.
It isn't. I've sat inside Georgetown University, the White House, and the British Houses of Parliament, watching how decisions about people actually get made when the stakes are as high as they get. What I learned there is unglamorous but true: being right for something and being seen as right for it are two completely different skills. Almost nobody teaches you the second one. That's the part we work on.
Working together, we don't start with your CV. We work out exactly why your applications aren't converting, restructure how your experience reads so the right roles start finding you, and I show you how hiring managers actually read what lands on their desk, so you're finally writing to the reality of the process instead of guessing at it. By the time we're done, you're not reciting a script in interviews, you're speaking about yourself with the kind of authority that used to feel out of reach.
I work with students and recent graduates who are capable and stuck, not because they're lacking, but because nobody has shown them how this process actually works. I'm not the right fit if you're after a template to copy or a shortcut that skips the real work.
Your first session is on me. Book an intro call, and let's find out what's actually standing between you and the offers you're looking for..

Intro Call · 45 to 60 minutes · FREE
If you feel like you're doing everything right and still not getting the results, this call is where we find out why.
This is the right session if you're a student or recent graduate preparing for competitive applications or internships, and either you're doing what looks right on paper but the outcomes aren't matching the effort, or you're not sure where to even start and want someone to help you see it clearly.
On the call, we look honestly at where you actually are. The roles you're targeting, what you've already tried, where things are breaking down. We go through your current search together, the applications, the rounds, the patterns you might not have noticed yourself. We look at the gap between how you're presenting yourself and what hiring managers are actually looking for. And we identify the one or two things that will make the biggest difference, in the right order, so you're not trying to fix everything at once.
This isn't a sales pitch, and it isn't a generic pep talk either. It's an honest, close look at your specific search, from someone who can see the pattern you're currently too close to see. By the end, what you do with that is entirely up to you.
You'll leave with a session transcript, a clear diagnosis of what's actually holding you back, and a specific plan for what to do next, whether that's with me or on your own.

Deadly! Professional, prepared and easy to speak to. Fantastic, thank you.
Deadly! Marilena was incredibly helpful in preparing me for my interview. Before working with her, I felt quite unsure about how to structure my answers, but her approach gave me clear direction and confidence. The materials she provided, especially the interview blueprint and strategic briefing, were really insightful and made a big difference to how I approached my preparation. The mock interview was particularly valuable and helped me feel much more composed going into the real interview. I would definitely recommend her to anyone preparing for interviews and would happily work with her again.

Deadly! I did not realize how much I needed someone like Marilena until after our first session. I was completely beaten up after spending over a year looking for work and had lost all hope in the process and all confidence in myself. The biggest thing Marilena did for me was build my confidence which was the stepping stone to everything else she helped me with. She redirected my focus honing in on an organized, intentional strategy to applying for jobs, especially in the non-profit world. She always came to our sessions energized, focused, and organized. Would definitely recommend Marilena to anyone in this same boat :)
- I genuinely enjoyed working with Alex after she had applied for many roles without getting many responses. She is incredibly smart and hard-working, and was able to execute the strategies I had in mind for her regarding her LinkedIn positioning and CV optimization very quickly. From the first time we spoke, Marilena shared so much wisdom and insight that was immediately applicable to the communications and leadership challenges I was facing. She balances empathy and knowledge to go at the right pace, taking you on a journey to build confidence and put new suggestions into practice. She unlocked a new skillset I really needed and made it feel easy. I have already recommended Marilena to friends and colleagues and would do so again without hesitation.
I've found working with Marilena to be extremely helpful. She brings a clear structure and confidence to each session, and always seems to know how to approach the next step in the process.
So far we've worked extensively on refining my CV, identifying suitable opportunities, improving supporting statements, and developing my LinkedIn profile. More recently we've begun discussing interview preparation and networking strategies, which feels like a natural progression as my job search evolves.
What I've particularly valued is that the sessions are practical and tailored to my circumstances. Rather than offering generic advice, Marilena takes the time to understand my background and helps me present my experience more effectively and strategically.
I've chosen to continue booking sessions because I feel the work we've done together has been worthwhile, and I think the longer-term focus on interviews, networking and career direction will be equally valuable. We studied together. I also attended A presentation by Marilena and a fellow course alumni on finding work in the Human Rights Sector. This proved both interesting and insightful, including information on further studies. I would highly recommend the coaching service for the experiential knowledge alone.
Working with Marilena during the early phase of my human rights career was a complete game-changer. She doesn't just look at your CV, she sees your true potential, breaks down the overwhelming job market into an actionable strategy, and gives you the exact confidence and tools you need to build a striking CV. Her meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisation skills helped me navigate the initial chaotic entry level job hunt. She was my absolute anchor from my master's graduation to my first big corporate breakthroughs, and her brilliant guidance was instrumental in helping me build a successful global career in human rights.
I am a professional colleague of Marilena and we know each other through the human rights sector. I am a human rights lawyer, independent human rights consultant, career coach and academic based in London. A few years ago, Marilena hosted an online event for aspiring human rights professionals which was excellent. She provided incredibly useful, thoughtful and practical advice on pursuing a career in the sector. She offered personal insights and advice from her own human rights career which gave the session real depth. I know that Marilena will be an excellent career coach and will walk alongside you with care and compassion.
I worked with Marilena through the LEAD School, where she was a speaker and mentor for young leaders. From the start, she stood out for her professionalism, clear thinking, and genuine commitment to helping others grow.
Marilena combines deep expertise with a warm, encouraging approach. She explains complex ideas simply and helps people recognize their own potential. Her practical, honest guidance is exactly what students and young professionals need when building career confidence and direction.
I highly recommend Marilena to anyone looking for a mentor or career advisor who works with integrity, empathy, and a real dedication to helping people succeed.
I send warm wishes from sunny Armenia.A recruitment specialist- Marilena- encouraged me to be more confident in my approach to job applications because the experience I got from volunteering has given me unique skillsets and expertise but most importantly many years of experience. I just need to package myself well and apply for roles more aligned to my purpose and experience.
I did just that and it has had a significant impact.Marilena's coaching was a turning point for me early in my career. I was shortlisted for a highly competitive ICRC traineeship alongside over 800 applicants, and while I had the CV and qualifications, her guidance empowered me to find my voice and truly own the interview. That breakthrough laid a strong foundation for my international career, which eventually led me to land different roles at the United Nations. Her ability to help clients tap into their inner confidence is unmatched, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to make their next big professional leap.
This week I had a really precious meeting with Marilena. We spoke about life, career, job market, Generation X work views, and so many other subjects. This girl definitely has an original approach. If you're stuck in your life, searching for jobs with no success, wondering about your work-life balance, or just lost, she's the one you need to reach out to.
Marilena understands the struggle because she felt it in her very own skin. Go on. Change the way you see things. And thrive. Before connecting with Marilena I had been applying to jobs for about 1 year with only a few resulting in interviews. The interviews that I did get ended at the hiring manager level. In all cases it was not clear what I could have done differently to progress further.
In speaking with Marilena in a diagnosis session, it became clear that I was not delving deep enough into understanding what problems the role was intended to solve for the organization. What also became clear was that while I have good experience, I was not communicating it in a manner that made alignment with the role understandable and actionable for the hiring manager. Marilena delved into some of the structure provided by her Blueprint framework and how it could help with interview preparation to better position myself and go into interviews feeling more confident about what I have to offer.
The other key takeaway from our session was on how to authentically increase my visibility and highlight my positioning on LinkedIn. She provided advice on how my unique cultural and cross-sector perspectives could be a good angle for my posts in order to build a network in a manner that does not feel forced or performative.
Marilena's overall demeanor is calm, relatable and level-headed. She takes the time to listen to and understand your frustrations and challenges and relates it to either her own experiences or those of her other clients (whilst maintaining confidentiality). The diagnosis session provided actionable next steps I could take. I think such a session would greatly benefit anyone who has been on the job market for a while and needs clarity on what they can do to get unstuck and successfully land a new job.I met Marilena through a mutual friend, and she has been amazing at coaching me during my job search.
She has helped me understand how to stand out during interviews and how to effectively demonstrate value to future employers.
Every time I had a question or needed to prepare for an interview, she found time in her schedule to support me.
If you are looking for someone knowledgeable and a great listener, I would definitely recommend herI was recommended Marilena as a career coach by a friend. Marilena and I had a long discussion about where my career currently is, the current market for the roles I have been looking at, and how to adapt my positioning moving forward.
Importantly, Marilena provided me with her blueprint: an incredibly useful guide to assist in working out your alignment with a role, and how to position your experience to align with a role. Her blueprint is structured in a manner that is easily followable and is transferable to any role you are applying for to help put your best foot forward.
Marilena provided realistic, yet kind advice and I would happily recommend her to anyone struggling with the job search.Marilena is very thorough and thoughtful. She has really helped me with my confidence! She really prepares for the lessons and leaves you with great materials you can use over and over.
I had my introductory call with Marilena and it was such a positive and helpful conversation. She has such a positive attitude and outlook which gives you the confidence to continue pursuing your goals.
I highly recommend Marilena's services. She was instrumental in helping me reach the interview stage, offering guidance throughout the process. Her lessons are in-depth, and the resources she provides are well-structured, practical, and tailored to individual students.
After asking within a group of human rights professionals, I hired Marilena to help me with some CV writing. Marilena helped me tailor my resume. She is meticulous about detail and a true professional, applying the STAR method to the job personification. Marilena picked up little things that did not stand out to me. She has an excellent knowledge of the development sector. Marilena also helped me with a cover letter. In addition, she has also assisted me with some transcription. Marilena is a true professional, and I would recommend her to others.
It is no doubt hard to highlight the most important skills when applying for a job, but what I really appreciated in Marilena’s thoughtful guidance was that she pointed out what would be the best for me, and in the end, it perfectly and successfully worked for me.
As a result of Marilena’s excellent and supportive guidance, I got to the interview stage and got the job as a Project Manager in one of the established feminist non-profit organisations.
As a woman of color, often having conversations with career coaches often feels very unrelatable. Marilena is very empathetic, and guides in a way that helps you reset your thinking and it is empowering. I can't recommend her enough to help you review your career strategies and also for preparing for interviews.
I requested Marilena’s input into a piece of written work. I chose Marilena because she has extensive professional experience and knowledge in the field of human rights and has an eye for editorial detail. The feedback that she gave me was helpful regarding the content and structure of my work. Marilena proved herself to be fair, reliable, and professional. I therefore recommend Marilena as a tutor.

i. Focus Session (1 x 60-minute session)
This session is for you if:
• Applications go out, and the silence that comes back tells you nothing
• You can sense something isn't landing, but you can't name what it is
• You get to the interview, and still don't get the offer
What you'll leave with
I will pinpoint exactly where your application loses clarity, so that you stop wondering whether it's you or the market.
I will simplify your structure into one you can repeat, so that every application you send from today lands the first time, not the third revision.
I will show you how to communicate what's actually being assessed without losing substance, so that you stop over-explaining and start being understood.
If relevant, we'll break down the job description together, so that you walk into your next application already knowing what they're really asking for.
What this saves you
Right now, every unclear application is another evening spent rewriting the same paragraph, still unsure if it lands, followed by another week of silence. This session removes that guesswork, so instead of spending your evenings second-guessing a bullet point, you spend them preparing for interviews that are actually worth the effort.
Where this leads
This is the session that ends the loop of almost. It's the point where you stop treating your own experience as something to explain away, and start presenting it the way it has always deserved to be presented, for this role, and every one after it.
ii. Core Package (5 Sessions)
For professionals who are ready to go from invisible to interview
What you'll leave with
I'll decode your target roles using AI, so that you know precisely what a hiring manager is scanning for before you write a single word.
I'll help you translate your experience, so that you know exactly what you need them to understand about you, and stop hoping they'll infer it.
We'll build clear, structured answers together, so that you stop over-explaining in interviews and start landing your point in the first sentence.
I'll prepare you for applications and interviews under real pressure, so that a difficult question no longer costs you your clarity.
We'll refine and repeat, so that you know exactly what good looks like before you ever submit again.
What this saves you
Every month you keep applying without this structure is another month spent re-explaining the same experience to a different reader, hoping this time it lands. This programme replaces that guesswork with a system, so you stop losing good roles to a positioning problem rather than a competence one, and get back the hours you were spending on applications that were never really the issue.
Where this leads
This is the shift from being someone who applies to being someone who gets chosen. Five years from now, this is the version of you who no longer treats every application as a fresh guess, who walks into interviews already knowing how to be understood, and who never again has to wonder whether the right people simply couldn't see what you bring.
iii. Advanced Package (10 Sessions)
By application only. Full support for high-achievers who want consistent results.
This is for you if:
• You're mid-transition, and the usual playbook doesn't apply to you anymore
• This search has run longer than it should have, and you still can't pinpoint why
• You don't just want the next role, you want to never feel this stuck again
Includes everything from the Core Package, plus:
What you'll leave with
We'll work through advanced interview scenarios, curveball questions and pushback included, so that nothing in the room catches you off guard.
You'll do mock interviews, recorded with feedback, so that you can see exactly where your clarity drops before a real interviewer does.
We'll do job description deep dives, so that you learn to interpret roles independently, without needing me in the room next time.
You'll choose one focus area, LinkedIn positioning, networking conversations, or transition strategy, so that we go deep on the one lever that will move your specific search fastest.
We'll build your final positioning strategy, so that you can repeat this entire process yourself, for every role that comes after this one.
What this saves you
This is for the search that has gone on longer than it should have, where nothing is obviously broken, so you can't quite name what's wrong. What this saves you is the compounding cost of another six months circling the same transition without a system: the missed roles, the eroding confidence, the sense of starting from zero every time you apply somewhere new.
Where this leads
This isn't preparation for one role. It's the strategy you carry into every role for the rest of your career. Five years from now, you're not someone who once worked with a coach to get unstuck, you're someone who has never needed to feel stuck again, because you know exactly how to position yourself, on demand, for whatever comes next.
