About Daniele

I support university students who need help with dissertations, essays, lab reports, statistics/SPSS, research methods and academic writing. I offer both emergency sessions close to deadlines and longer-term support for students who want help planning, structuring and improving their work over time.

Many students come to me when they feel stuck, overwhelmed or unsure how to move forward. I also work with mature students, students balancing university with work, students returning to education, and students with learning differences or anxiety around academic work. My teaching style is patient, structured and non-judgemental.

The best way to understand my tutoring style is to read the reviews left by previous students on this platform :) I think, they may show how I work in practice and whether I may be the right tutor for you.

I am currently a Research Project Manager based in Barcelona and I am starting a PhD in mental health at the University of Barcelona. I completed an MSc in Psychology of Affective Disorders at King’s College London with a high Distinction, and a BSc in Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience at Goldsmiths, University of London, with First Class Honours.

I understand how stressful academic work can feel. My own MSc dissertation received a high Distinction mark of 80 and was later published, while my BSc dissertation received a First Class mark of 88 and was nominated for the Experimental Psychology Society prize in the UK.

In sessions, I can help you understand the assignment brief, plan your structure, improve your argument, work on methodology, analyse data, use SPSS, interpret results, improve clarity and flow, and prepare your work for submission. I can also provide proofreading with detailed comments where appropriate.

University assignments can be stressful and anxiety-inducing, especially when deadlines are approaching. My aim is to help students break the work into manageable steps, understand what is expected, and feel more confident about their submission.

Do you need help with your dissertation, statistics, SPSS, research methods, essays or lab reports?

My lessons are designed for university students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, close to a deadline, or unsure how to move forward with their assignments. I offer both one-off emergency sessions and longer-term support, depending on what you need.

I can help you with:

- planning and structuring dissertations
- understanding assignment briefs and marking criteria
- developing research questions and methodology sections
- statistics, SPSS and data analysis
- interpreting and writing up results
- writing essays, lab reports and critical evaluations
- understanding research methods
- improving clarity, flow and critical analysis
- proofreading with detailed comments
- preparing work for submission or resubmission

I am a Research Project Manager based in Barcelona and I currently support BSc and MSc students with dissertations, essays, lab reports, statistics and research methods. I have tutored more than 90 university students across BSc, MSc and PhD levels, and I also mark essays and lab reports for university students as part of my academic work.

Many students come to me because they do not receive enough detailed support from their university supervisors, especially during dissertations. This is very common, and it can make students feel unsure about what is expected. My role is to help you understand the task clearly, break it into manageable steps, and build confidence in your work.

Recently, I have worked with many mature students, conversion-course students and students who are new to research methods or statistics. I also have experience supporting students with learning differences, anxiety around academic work, or students who simply need a more patient and structured teaching style.

My teaching style is practical, calm and collaborative. I do not just provide information; I help you understand the concepts so that you can apply them independently in your own work. I adapt each lesson to your needs, whether you need detailed explanation, step-by-step planning, feedback on your writing, help with SPSS, or support close to a deadline.

The aim of each lesson is to help you leave with more clarity, more structure and a clear plan for what to do next.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have always loved sharing knowledge and helping others. It is very rewarding for me to see that I have helped someone understand something they previously found difficult.
This became particularly clear during university, and even more so after Covid, when I initially started tutoring for free in order to gain more experience. Over time, I realised how much I enjoyed the process of helping students build confidence and develop their understanding.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students — and possibly those you like a little less.

I love psychology and science in general. For me, the enjoyment comes from the collaboration between myself and the student. I do not really think there are any topics I find boring.
I also enjoy teaching statistics, for example. I think there is beauty in statistics once students understand how they can practically use that knowledge. 😊
I graduated in Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology, but I do not limit my knowledge to these two areas. I also love Behavioural Genetics, as well as behavioural and organisational psychology, and I have a deep interest in psychoanalysis too.
  • Did you have any role models, or a teacher who inspired you?

Yes, definitely. The professor who taught Individual Differences and Personality, as well as Behavioural Genetics, during my bachelor’s degree was a huge inspiration to me.
In three years, I never missed one of her lectures. I even used to record them and listen to them again afterwards. She was incredibly inspiring, and the way she explained theories and topics made time fly — maybe even too fast!
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    Patience, patience, and patience.
Another very important quality is the ability to calm and motivate students. Everyone, at some point in life, finds themselves learning something new. However, for some reason, we often become demoralised when we do not immediately understand what we are trying to learn.
The reality is that learning takes time, patience, and dedication. Even from a neuroscience perspective, the brain needs time to “adapt” and integrate new knowledge. 😊
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

If something goes wrong, try not to panic — just do your best with the situation in front of you.
This happened to me during an in-class written exam. The professor had told us which topics would come up, so we all studied only those specific areas because we had far too many exams in one week.
However, when I opened the exam paper, I realised I did not understand the question:
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Explain with psychological theories.”
Being Italian, and at the time not as proficient in English as I am now, I did not understand the saying or what “beholder” meant. The examiners could not help me either.
So instead of panicking, I stopped for the first 15 minutes to calm myself down. Everyone around me was writing, but I decided not to rush. Then I realised there was nothing I could do except read the other questions carefully and try to use my knowledge to answer a different one.
That is exactly what I did. I took it as a challenge, answered a different essay question, and in the end, it actually went quite well!
  • What difficulties or challenges have you faced, or are you still facing, in your subject?

I think one of the main challenges in psychology is that, as society evolves, psychology evolves too.
This is not only because of new technology, but also because people, cultures, and social behaviours change over time. For this reason, it is essential to understand global trends, cultural developments, and social changes, while remaining open-minded towards them.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of the subject, or something completely different?

I love sports, especially boxing and football. I practise both, although in the last few years I have focused more on boxing than football.
And I know it may sound a bit like a sales pitch, but I genuinely do love teaching. I see it as a collaboration with the student — an ever-changing challenge, which makes it very exciting.
  • What makes you a Superprof — besides answering these interview questions? :-P

My willingness to share the knowledge I have worked hard to gain. :D
What I want most is for my students to become better versions of themselves academically. It does not matter how big the improvement is. When a student genuinely tries their best, even a small improvement can feel like a giant leap.
