About Emma

I am an MA researcher in theoretical and critical psychology with four years of tutoring experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels (MA and PhD). My background includes research work on accessible CBT initiatives for Inuit communities and extensive editing experience as Associate Editor of the Trauma and Mental Health Report. I specialize in helping students develop strong academic writing, clarify theoretical arguments, and navigate dense texts in psychology, philosophy, and related humanities fields.

About the lesson

My approach is grounded in clarity, discussion, and precise feedback. I work with students to unpack dense readings, strengthen their analytical skills, and produce well-argued, well-structured essays. Whether you’re writing in psychology, philosophy, or the humanities, I focus on helping you articulate your ideas clearly, develop strong arguments, and improve the overall quality of your academic writing. Many of my students come to me specifically for support with essays, research papers, and theoretical analyses.

Deadly! Emma was very helpful in assisting me with my paper on Freud. She explained Freud's key ideas well, read through my essay and helped me clarify a few points. We went through Freud's paper together, and she highlighted key quotes and ideas that would be important for me to discuss. Overall super helpful!

Deadly! Emma's breadth of knowledge in Philosophy and Psychology blew me away upon our first meeting. She reviewed my papers and provided critiques and guided me toward fruitful reading materials. Working with Emma not only helped me develop my skills as a writer, but also helped me develop as an individual, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
