About Shreyas

I am 28 years old, and a returned Peace Corps volunteer. I spent 2 years living in Benin, West Africa, teaching English, French, and other health topics. I love learning languages and French grammar is especially fun. I also enjoy playing chess and listening to new music. I especially love French artists like Dadju, Tayc, and Franglish.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered on communication, confidence-building, and consistent speaking practice. I believe the fastest way to learn a language is by using it actively, so my lessons emphasize conversation from the very beginning, even for beginners. I combine this with structured grammar explanations and vocabulary support to make sure students build a strong foundation while still feeling comfortable expressing themselves. I adapt my style to each student’s needs, whether they prefer a more structured learning path or a more relaxed, conversation-heavy experience.

A typical lesson usually starts with a short conversation warm-up to activate speaking skills and review previous material. From there, we focus on a main topic, which may include new vocabulary, grammar points, or real-life dialogue practice. I like to incorporate repetition, guided speaking exercises, and role-play scenarios to make the language feel practical and memorable. We then finish with feedback, corrections, and small exercises or practice tasks that help reinforce what was learned during the session.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my wide-ranging experience with French in real-world contexts. Having studied French in school, tutored in academic settings, and lived in a French-speaking country during my Peace Corps service in Benin, I bring both formal and practical understanding of the language. I am also familiar with different accents and variations of French from across the francophone world. My lessons are suitable for beginners to intermediate learners, as well as anyone looking to improve their conversational French, grammar, or overall fluency in a supportive and engaging environment.
