About Michelle
As a college student, I have been granted with many wonderful opportunities in the writing field.
I am a digital and print journalism and English double major in Penn State’s Schreyer Honors College. I am a lifestyle journalist for The Daily Collegian, Penn State’s news outlet. This position involves interviewing people around campus and writing articles for the community to read and stay informed.
I am a writing tutor at The Writing Center @ Penn State, and a newly selected process mentor for The Dangling Modifier, an online blog for tutors and by tutors.
I was also selected for Penn State’s Student Publishing Project’s Publishing Writing Initiative. I spent the entirety of the spring semester of my freshman year reworking and editing an essay I wrote for class about the evolution of the word “healthy” with my mentor, and we will be sending my finished piece out to various publications this summer.
It wasn’t too long ago that I went through the college application process, and I have found a passion helping others with their writing, especially college essays

Growing up on the quieter side, I have always valued the art of writing because it gave me a voice. As a writing tutor at Penn State, it is my mission to help others understand their voice and share it proudly.
When I tutor, I always make sure that the session is centered around the tutee and their individual needs. I often ask thought-provoking questions to stimulate the tutee’s thoughts and ideas, taking their writing to its greatest potential.
