About Nico
Hi! I’m Nico, a passionate robotics enthusiast, coach, and mentor with extensive experience in competitive robotics and engineering. I’m currently a grade 12 student applying to top engineering programs across Canada, and I’ve been deeply involved in robotics for several years. As the founder and captain of the first-ever FIRST Tech Challenge team in my school board, I’ve led my team to success by securing grants, managing projects, and mentoring younger students. I also coach younger participants in FIRST LEGO League and Zone01 robotics competitions, where I help them develop critical problem-solving, teamwork, and technical skills. I’m certified in Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science through IBM, have a strong foundation in coding and design, and I’m always exploring new technologies and innovations. I love sharing my knowledge and watching my students gain confidence as they master robotics concepts and build creative solutions. My tutoring style is patient, personalized, and fun. I’m committed to helping my students achieve their goals, whether they’re preparing for a competition, working on a school project, or simply curious about how robotics works. Let’s work together to unlock your full potential!

My Approach as a Robotics Tutor/Coach I am passionate about teaching robotics and engineering concepts to high school students (Grades 7-12) in an engaging and hands-on manner. I use an individualized, student-centered approach that builds both technical skills and problem-solving abilities. My Teaching Methodology and Techniques I believe the best learning happens through exploration and practical application. My lessons emphasize real-world problem-solving using robotics kits and programming languages appropriate for the student’s level. I guide students through structured challenges while encouraging creativity and innovation. I also teach design thinking, collaboration, and iterative improvement, which are crucial skills in competitive robotics. Typical Lesson Plan Warm-up and Review: We start with a brief review of the previous session to solidify foundational knowledge. Goal Setting: Define clear objectives for the session, such as programming a sensor or building a specific mechanical component. Hands-On Work: The student works on a project or challenge, applying concepts learned while I provide guidance and insights to overcome obstacles. Problem Solving and Discussion: I encourage reflection on what worked well and where improvements can be made, fostering critical thinking. Wrap-up and Next Steps: We summarize key takeaways and outline the next steps to keep progress on track. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor Experienced Robotics Competitor and Coach: I founded and led my school board’s first-ever FIRST Tech Challenge team and have coached younger students in FIRST LEGO League and Zone01 competitions. Grant and Fundraising Expertise: I bring a unique entrepreneurial perspective, teaching students how to secure funding and resources for their robotics projects. Mentorship and Leadership Development: I inspire confidence by sharing real-world strategies for team management, effective communication, and project planning. Customized Learning Paths: I adapt my teaching to align with each student’s strengths, interests, and goals, creating an environment that fuels passion and perseverance. Who My Lessons Are For My tutoring is tailored to high school students from Grades 7 to 12 who are interested in robotics, programming, and engineering. Whether you are a beginner excited to explore the field or an advanced student preparing for competitions, I offer guidance to help you excel.
