About Simone

My name is Simone Pinchera and I am an Italian professional ballet dancer, teacher and choreographer based in London. I am also the director and lead teacher of my own adult ballet school in London: Ballet Alto

I started dancing when I was 9 at the Rome Opera House's Dance School, where I spent 5 years.
While attending the lessons I was also selected to take part in some ballets like The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Petruska and others, with the Rome Opera House's ballet company.

Then I studied at the National Dance Academy in Rome until 2009 where, from 2012 to 2015, I began the university course achieving the first level graduation in classical ballet dance, with the maximum vote (110 with honour/110).

In addition to my formal and academic education in ballet I have significant experience teaching dance (children and adults). I have taught in many schools in the last six years both in Italy and the UK. Of particular relevance to this role is my experience teaching at the University of Arts where I teach classes for students and choreograph the shows (1st place beginners and 2nd intermediate category won 2023 UK University competition). This experience has taught me how to create engaging and exciting classes for adults. I particularly love working with adults and helping to inspire in them a love for dancing which they may not have realised they possessed!

I am passionate about dance and hope always to bring this passion to my lessons. For me, ballet (and dancing more broadly) is a real style of life, good not only for those people who practice in a professional way but also for people of all ages and abilities; ballet brings so many health benefits to your body and mind.

Ballet helps with: the coordination of the body, it teaches how to be confident with the music and rhythm, it's a fun way to keep the body fit and the brain awake, and on top of this, it is a great way to make friends and be social! Ballet is particularly good for adults because it helps to create flexibility, helping to relieve the body of tension and stress accumulated throughout the day; especially if you have a sedentary job.

Ultimately the thing I love most about dance is that the dancer can tell a story and communicate big emotions and feelings without speaking, singing or painting, using only his/her own body and gestures.

Ballet is a great way to keep your body fit and brain active, improving your coordination, musicality, flexibility and, at the same time, having fun in a friendly environment with some beautiful classical music.

About the lesson

My ballet classes are for adults of all levels, abilities and shapes! I always try to tailor my class according to the specific skills and requests of the dancer. I studied at the Rome Opera House ballet school and National Dance Academy University (Rome), where I got my ballet degree. I can also teach ballet conditioning and floor barre. I like to make sure the dancer always feels comfortable, safe and supported during the class, doing my best to keep the class enjoyable and stress free. So, either if you have some experience in ballet or always wanted to try it but never had the chance: give it a go!
