  • 1) At what age did you start practicing this sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I began playing badminton at the age of 9. Growing up in India, it was a sport that brought our community together, and I was instantly drawn to the rhythm, strategy, and speed of the game. I still remember holding my first proper racquet and how proud I felt attending my first coaching class - it sparked a lifelong passion and set the foundation for my competitive journey.
  • 2) What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

Badminton is the sport I've trained in at a high level - I've played at national-level tournaments in India and currently represent the University of Melbourne. As a hobby, I enjoy playing table tennis and cricket with friends to stay active and have fun. One sport I'd love to explore more deeply is tennis - the mix of endurance and precision really fascinates me.
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue this craft?

What keeps me passionate is the constant room for growth - both as a player and as a coach. Badminton teaches discipline, focus, and resilience, and I love passing that mindset on to my students. Watching someone progress - whether it's mastering a serve or winning their first match - reminds me why I do what I do. Their success becomes my motivation.
  • 4) Do you have an achievement that you're particularly proud of?

One of my proudest achievements was winning two state championships in India and being selected to represent my state at national-level competitions. More recently, reaching the finals in the University Champions League here in Australia was a special milestone that made me proud of how far I've come, especially as an international student.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better athlete?

Each challenge has taught me something valuable - from learning to bounce back after a loss to staying humble in victory. My achievements have boosted my confidence, but the setbacks have shaped my mindset and discipline. This balance has made me more consistent, patient, and empathetic - qualities I bring into every training session.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

I'd love to go for a jog with Peter Gade. His style of play was ahead of its time, and I've always admired his footwork and court intelligence. I'd ask him about how he maintained his creative playstyle under pressure, how he adapted his game over the years, and what advice he has for young athletes aiming to bring flair and discipline together on court.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

I keep sessions fun, dynamic, and goal-oriented. I often set small, achievable targets that show visible progress, which builds confidence. I also share stories from my own journey - both wins and losses - to help my students see that growth is not linear, but it's always worth it. Celebrating their milestones, no matter how small, is key.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to connect with students and make the sport approachable and exciting for all ages. I bring years of competitive experience, a patient and positive teaching style, and a genuine commitment to helping each student find joy and confidence on the court.
