About Elena
I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and teacher with 23 years of teaching experience and more than two decades of professional performing experience.
I graduated with honours from the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, where I also completed postgraduate studies and later taught for several years.
As a soloist and chamber musician, I have performed in concert halls, festivals and international tours across Europe, Asia, South America and the CIS. My professional work has also included masterclasses and competition jury work.
I am a First Prize winner of the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe. I have also recorded two chamber music CDs for the Russian classical label Melodiya.
My teaching is rooted in the Russian classical tradition, in which technique, listening, musical thought and artistic expression are developed together. I translate this professional training into clear and practical work appropriate to each student’s level.
I work with adult beginners, returning pianists, advanced amateurs, motivated teenagers, and students preparing for ABRSM or Trinity graded and diploma examinations, auditions and performances.
My aim is not simply to increase the amount of repertoire a student can play. Each new piece should become both an artistically convincing result and a step towards stronger reading, more secure rhythm and technique, a more refined ear, clearer musical understanding and increasingly independent work.

Good piano teaching must do two things at once: bring the current music to an artistically convincing result and develop skills that the student can carry into the next piece.
A student may prepare one polished piece after another while remaining dependent on the teacher. Reading is still slow, rhythm insecure, technique poorly organised, and practice consists mainly of repetition followed by correction at the next lesson.
My lessons are designed so that the repertoire and the pianist’s own abilities develop together.
Reading, rhythm, coordination, technique, listening, memory, harmony, form, phrasing and expression are developed as parts of one musical system through the repertoire itself.
Before the hands begin to repeat, we establish what is written, how the material is organised, where the music is moving, what it should sound like, and what movement and technical organisation can produce that result. We then work phrase by phrase, connecting musical intention, inner hearing, physical movement and sound.
This does not place analysis above practical playing. It prevents repetition without a clear musical and physical purpose. Technique serves sound and freedom; understanding of the score serves expression; and a convincing performance remains an essential result.
For beginners, this means developing secure reading, rhythm, coordination, listening and healthy technical habits from the start. Returning and continuing pianists rebuild missing foundations and learn to organise their practice more effectively. Advanced students refine sound, technique, structure, interpretation, memory and performance reliability.
I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity graded and diploma examinations, as well as auditions, performances and demanding classical repertoire. Exam preparation includes the musical and technical foundation required for the level, not only the polishing of a fixed programme.
The introductory lesson offered through Superprof is used to discuss your goals, previous experience, lesson format and whether this approach is the right fit.
The first full working lesson allows me to assess your current foundation, repertoire and practice habits and establish the most useful order of work. Afterwards, you receive a concise written summary of the main priorities and direction of study.
Regular lessons are intended for students who value consistent weekly work and long-term musical development rather than occasional correction of isolated pieces.
A small number of regular weekly places are available for the 2026–27 academic year.

As an adult with a demanding schedule, I needed lessons that were genuinely worth the time and concentration they require. Elena’s are exactly that. They are rigorous, focused and beautifully thought through, but never mechanical. What surprised me most was the emotional effect: once the music became clearer in structure and intention, it also became more personal and more rewarding to play.
My son was preparing for ABRSM and needed more than routine coaching. Elena brought a level of seriousness and musical intelligence that immediately raised the standard of his work. She was attentive to detail, but never in a narrow way: everything was connected to style, character and communication. His playing became more assured, more expressive, and far more convincing as a performance.
What I appreciate most is that Elena does not create dependence. She gives extremely precise guidance, but always in a way that teaches you how to think and practise for yourself. Between lessons I no longer feel lost. I know what I am trying to achieve, how to listen for it, and how to correct my own work. That independence has made playing much more enjoyable and much less anxious.
I had previously worked with teachers who were either encouraging but vague, or technically exact without much musical imagination. Elena is rare in combining both. Her lessons are highly structured, yet everything serves expression. I now understand far more clearly how technique, timing and sound work together to create something persuasive for the listener, rather than merely correct.
What changed most for me was not only the quality of my playing, but the way I hear music now. Elena teaches phrasing as something alive and intentional, not decorative. She helped me move away from playing note by note and towards shaping a real musical thought. For an adult student returning to the piano, that has been both intellectually satisfying and unexpectedly moving.
It’s a rare online experience that actually feels premium. The lessons are methodical without being rigid, detailed without being overwhelming. I find myself reflecting on the material between sessions, thinking through phrasing, articulation, and dynamics. The guidance is precise, and there’s a subtle encouragement to experiment musically, which I find exhilarating. I never expected an online lesson to provoke such deliberate thought about interpretation and style.
I’ve tried various online teachers before, but this experience is truly distinctive. From the very first lesson, there’s a sense that everything has been carefully planned. Exercises are explained thoroughly, and yet there’s room for personal interpretation. By the second week, I noticed subtle improvements in phrasing and touch that I hadn’t achieved in years of traditional lessons. What I particularly appreciate is the balance between challenge and encouragement — never feeling rushed, yet always pushed slightly beyond comfort. It’s rare to find that combination online. I even began exploring pieces I never thought I’d dare to try.
I appreciate how organised the lessons are. It makes practice much more focused.
Each lesson is tailored to my goals and level. Elena provides detailed feedback and practical strategies that I can apply immediately. My technique and interpretive skills have grown steadily.
Elena combines performance insight with rigorous methodology. I now approach polyphonic pieces with confidence, something I previously avoided. Her guidance is exceptionally clear and effective.
Thanks to Elena, I have reorganised my previous piano studies into a coherent system. My progress is clear and measurable, and my understanding of music has deepened
Elena’s lessons are structured and precise. My technique and musical interpretation have advanced significantly in a short time, and I feel fully confident performing solo repertoire
