About Sam
In the last fifteen years I've lived predominantly from music. This challenging pursuit has benefited my skill set, and now it can benefit yours.
I've honed my musical skills, performer's intuition, writing craft and most importantly, developed a routine.
I've created and maintained an environment, network and lifestyle conducive to writing and perfecting music.
I first started giving lessons after several requests about 12 years ago- while working as a professional musician and running a creative collective in Brunswick in Melbourne.
I studied songwriting at the now-defunct NMIT under Greg Arnold of Things of Stone and Wood. Took guitar lessons from Peter Cross in Buderim who headlined the first Woodford Music Festival (formerly the Maleny music festival) and used to perform on Countdown. I had 6 years of vocal lessons, another 2 years of bass lessons, keyboard lessons, theory tutoring and even spent a few days learning directly from Phil Judd of Split Enz and The Swingers (Counting the Beat).
Since moving to Tasmania I've opened for Auntie Donna, Alain Johannes from Eleven and Queens of the Stone Age, the Real Thing Russel Morris and the Eagle Rock 40 year anniversary of Ross Wilson (Daddy Cool)

Deadly! He went out of his way to give his time on singing techniques, even if they were not the style he generally practices. He knows his stuff.
Deadly! Sams an awesome teacher, he’s got a way of explaining things that makes sense to anyone who’s listening and I’ve found great noticeable improvement from only working with him for a couple of week.
