About Nina
I'm a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Oxford, completed with Distinction, and a First Class degree from the University of Exeter in History. I teach History, Religious Studies and Philosophy.
I've taught students aged 11 to 18, giving me a clear picture of what pupils need at every stage — from first encounters with ethical reasoning at KS3 to building the analytical rigour needed for GCSE and A Level.
My academic background is in intellectual history, which shapes how I teach: I want students to understand not just what thinkers argued, but why their ideas mattered in context, and how to construct a genuinely persuasive argument of their own. Whether we're working through classical ethical theories, philosophy of religion, or contested moral questions, my focus is on helping students think clearly and argue with confidence, rather than simply memorise positions.
In lessons, I favour active engagement over passive note-taking: structured argument-building, close reading of primary texts, and discussion pitched carefully to each student's level. My goal is always the same — to help students leave every session able to think a little more sharply than when they arrived.

Lessons are designed for secondary school students who would like additional support with GCSE or A-Level. Depending on what would be most beneficial, I split lesson time between building subject content and developing exam technique. Each lesson lasts one hour.
I hold A*s in both subjects and bring experience both as a private tutor and as a qualified teacher delivering this content in the classroom.
