About Chris
I am an English teacher at a secondary school in Devon and have just returned from a year in New Zealand where I taught and travelled. I studied both my undergrad and post grad at Exeter University: the top provider for teacher training at the time I gained my qualification. I have also previously been a tutor.

I'm mainly a friendly, easy going teacher and tutor. My youth is definitely a plus with getting on with students!
My lesson structure is based on diagnosis and solution. Basically, I will use 'cold tasks' to identify areas to improve upon, then tailor my teaching to just those areas. Students will never waste time on stuff they already know. I consider myself a flexible teacher/tutor - my training led me towards an eclectic range of styles of learning and my experience has showed that each students' learning is unique and will need an individual programme (e.g. more visual cues over verbal, less visual and more written memory tasks etc.)
I'm keen to keep the fun and intrigue in English alive in spite of some pretty dry and harsh conditions brought about by the current curriculum. I frequently get positive reviews from parents and ex students, so I take pride in my teaching and the results I achieve!
Nobody is naturally talented in English - it's all learned and practiced. It's just a matter of weeding it out!
