About John

I am a seminary student in Louisville. Over the past 8 years I've led Bible studies, church small groups, and even a high school youth group. Over that time I've had to develop the ability to study God's word, understand it, come up with a lesson or group discussion, and do it quickly! While I do have some seminary training, I believe that these skills are helpful for all Christians- regardless of whether they feel called to vocational ministry. I would love to be able to share what I've learned with you!

About the lesson

The Bible is deep, powerful, living, beautiful, and formative. However, it's also complex and sophisticated, and most of us haven't been taught how to read it (let alone teach it)! While I am happy to adapt to your specific needs, I typically suggest one of two approaches: Training: For those who want to grow their personal Bible-study skills, I will teach you how to read the different genres in scripture to understand the author's original message and how to apply it to today. Coaching: For those already leading a Bible study, I will meet with you to help you develop or enhance your curriculum and tailor it to the needs of your group. I also make myself available as a "walking talking commentary" to help you figure out the more difficult texts.
