About Tessa
"Music has always been a part of my daily life, and I enjoy helping students discover their own voice with confidence. I have 9 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice. My lessons welcome beginners as well as experienced singers who want to keep improving.
I teach different styles of singing while building a strong base in vocal technique, music theory, harmony, improvisation, and careful listening. These skills work together and help students become more confident musicians, not just better singers. I often share examples from jazz, pop, musical theater, and contemporary music so students can hear how the same idea works in different styles.
Every student learns differently, so I adjust each lesson to match their goals, pace, and musical interests. One student once struggled with simple pitch changes, but after practicing short listening exercises each week, they could sing confidently with their choir. Moments like that remind me that steady practice always brings results.
I believe good singing is a balance of healthy technique and honest expression. My goal is to help every student feel comfortable, enjoy the learning process, and perform with confidence in any setting."

"My lessons are designed for both The Orchestra Member and The Crossover Artist, with a focus on building strong music reading and listening skills. We begin with notation reading, rhythm exercises, interval training, and simple sight singing that grows step by step. These basics make learning new music much faster and more enjoyable.
The Orchestra Member develops accuracy by reading scores carefully, recognizing patterns, and staying rhythmically steady during ensemble work. The Crossover Artist learns to move confidently between musical styles while keeping strong pitch, timing, and expression. Both students strengthen the connection between what they hear, understand, and sing.
We also use sight singing apps, rhythm trainers, and notation tools to make practice more interactive outside lessons. I encourage short daily practice because even fifteen focused minutes can make a noticeable difference over time. One student improved their sight reading simply by singing a new melody every morning before work, and within a few months they felt much more confident during rehearsals. My aim is to help every student build lasting musical skills, enjoy steady progress, and perform with greater confidence."
