About Hazel
With 18 years of piano teaching experience and nearly 300 students trained, I provide lessons that are structured, motivating, and tailored to individual goals. I teach high school students, college learners, and adults, helping them strengthen their skills and achieve their musical ambitions.
My teaching philosophy combines discipline, clarity, and encouragement. I emphasise developing strong technical skills, including scales, arpeggios, finger exercises, rhythm accuracy, and sight-reading. At the same time, I encourage students to develop musical expression, phrasing, and emotional connection to their pieces.
Lessons are designed to match each student’s pace and objectives. I set clear goals, track progress regularly, and provide constructive feedback. Many of my students have performed successfully in recitals, competitions, and school programmes, while others have achieved excellent examination results.
I aim to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel motivated, confident, and inspired to reach their full potential in piano.

My piano teaching methodology is guided by communication, creativity, flexibility, and continuous progress. I believe that learning piano should be clear, structured, and inspiring. I begin with strong fundamentals such as posture, finger strength, hand coordination, rhythm accuracy, and proper note reading. I explain each concept in simple language so students understand both the technique and the musical meaning.
Communication helps build trust and allows students to share their goals and challenges openly. I provide regular feedback and clear practice strategies. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, expressive interpretation, and exploring different musical styles.
Flexibility allows me to adjust lesson plans according to the student’s age, level, and learning speed. I also teach music theory, harmony, ear training, and sight reading to support full musical growth. My goal is to develop confident pianists who play with understanding and emotion.
