About Maitreyee

Hi! I’m Maitreyee, and I teach social sciences because I genuinely believe they help us make sense of the world, and of ourselves. I’ve been doing this since I was myself an undergrad and I still light up when a student finally gets a concept, or starts to connect what they’re studying with the world around them. I’m a gold medallist in Sociology, with an MPhil in Planning and Development and a Masters in Public Policy. Many of my students have gone on to study at top universities, and I’ve supported them not just with academics, but also with university applications, interviews, and confidence-building along the way. We’ll definitely focus on grades, because they do matter. But I also want you to understand the society you live in: the systems, the power structures, the everyday inequalities and the possibilities for change. Whether we realise it or not, these forces shape our lives and I believe that understanding them is key to unlocking your full potential. and I want to give you the tools to think about them clearly, critically, and confidently. I also have experience working with students with learning difficulties, and I make sure my lessons are flexible, encouraging, and built around you. If you’re studying Sociology, Politics, Geography or any other social science at GCSE or A Level—and you’re looking for someone who will back your academic goals while helping you grow into your full potential—I’d love to be in your corner.

How I Teach My goal is to make social sciences come alive, not just as subjects, but as ways to understand the world around us. I break down tricky concepts into real-life examples, encourage critical thinking, and work closely on exam strategies so students not only know the content, but can show it under pressure. Every lesson is a mix of clarity, conversation, and confidence-building. Lesson Length Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes. I offer flexible timings based on your schedule and needs—especially during exam season or university application crunch time. About Me I'm a gold medallist in Sociology with over 7 years of experience in teaching, policy, and mentoring. Many of my students have gone on to top universities, and I’ve actively supported them through every step, from personal statements to interview prep. For me, tutoring isn’t just about grades (though we aim high!); it’s about helping each student find their voice, build confidence, and feel seen and supported. I also have experience working with students who have learning difficulties, and I take pride in adapting my approach to support diverse learning needs. Who It’s For I work with GCSE and A Level students (ages 14–18) in all social science subjects, Sociology, Politics, Geography, Citizenship, and more. Whether you're trying to move up a grade, strengthen your writing, or dreaming of university offers, we’ll work together to get you there.
