About Asad

I am a software engineer with over 10 years of programming experience and over 5 years of teaching experience in a variety of different subjects. My two biggest passions are computer science and teaching, and I ideally like to do those two together which is why you are reading this now :) My philosophy behind teaching is simple, I believe in knowledge acquisition, not rote understanding of a topic. The difference between the two is that knowledge acquisition involves understanding a topic at the deepest conceptual level. There's a moment in our lives where things just "click" or make sense to use and we are able to effectively utilize our understanding of something our lives. This is knowledge acquisition and it's what I strive to achieve with you.

About the lesson

I provide weekly lessons that focus on your specific area of interest whether it be what you're interested in learning or areas that you are discussing in your school work.

I am able to teach topics including (but not limited to):

What sets me apart is that I will not only teach you how to code, but rather I will teach you computer science. Something important to remember is that code is just a tool, in of itself it is useless, the same way a hammer is useless without the skill and experience of the blacksmith who knows how to wield it. What you need to know as a computer scientist is the ability to think algorithmically and use the tools that you have along with your engineering intuition to solve problems.

My typical plan for lessons revolves around developing the building blocks of what you're trying to learn at the conceptual level and then working towards mastery through hands-on practical problems. I have a wealth of resources at my disposal that I can use to aid in the development of your learning which we will go over in our lessons.

My classes are for anyone who wants to take computer science seriously, whether you are a high school student who wishes to breakthrough into the field, a college student who wants to better understand your coursework, or a hobbyist who wants to pick up a new skill, I will ensure you reach your goals with my help.
