About Daryl
I am a passionate Software Developer/Tester who has recently graduated from the University of Calgary.
I started my undergraduate degree in Business and after a year in the program, decided to switch to Software Engineering after taking a simple elective in Excel VBA coding. Ever since then, software, programming, and coding have become my new passion in life and I am proud to be in an industry that I love to work in.
Some of my areas of interest include SQ testing/assurance, software architecture and design, web development, machine learning, and project management.
Outside of work, I enjoy teaching youth fundamentals in programming and engineering in the form of tutoring or volunteering. This gives me the opportunity to share my excitement about this growing industry while also allowing me to inform kids/youth about engineering and STEM at an early age.

As a tutor, I like to break down concepts into simple or visual terms. I find with programming especially, many challenging ideas can be simplified with bite-sized diagrams. Then after going through the theory and concept, I would allow the students to try it themselves with exercises or examples to fully immerse themselves in what topic I'm introducing.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that for programming or computer science specifically, I have had a lot of teaching/mentoring opportunities in this field so I understand many of the pain points that come with learning certain topics and how to better understand them.

Deadly! Daryl was such excellent help with my introduction to python and machine learning course. He is very caring and great at walking you through concepts in a way that is easy to understand. Every time a session was over I felt like I left with a better understanding of concepts than I did when I first came in. Very much recommend his service!
